Nail Polish vs Society Rant

Most women love nail polish. It gives them an opportunity to express themselves through what they wear on their fingernails [if they cannot express themselves through clothing or makeup for example].

However, some might see this as stereotypical since woman are supposed to be feminine and beautiful.
Well I say, screw what society tells us. We are who we are. We woman can be whom we want to be because we are our own individual persons. If we don't want to wear nail polish, we don't need to. If we don't want to spend 10 bucks on a single vile of this intoxicating liquid, then we don't need to. If we do not want to put acrylic nails over our fake nails because you'll feel it demeans you as a person, you don't need to. Nail polish is an optional beauty product and is not necessary-as is ANY other beauty product.

Society tells us that we need to look beautfiul for others, but what if we are beautiful inside and out? What if we do not want to wear makeup to please others but wear makeup to please ourselves? WE can do that! It's not illegal. We are women. We are power. We are the bearers of society. So if no one likes it, they can kiss our asses :]

On another note: If you love makeup, love to make yourself beautiful to please yourself, love nail polish and love that intoxicating smell, then hey, that's you because I'm riding on that same boat with you sister.

I'm just showing the other point of view of the story because I've been told numerous times to "beautify" myself to please the man's eye, to make myself a drone so I could fit in with all the other fake people out there. To make myself not who I am just so people can accept me.

As an adult, I realize that we need not care about what people think about us because that constant obsession to be someone we're not will just be an ultimate internal downfall. As a teenager, I was constantly obsessed with trying to fit in because I was different. I was scared to share my opinion on things because they were different. If I could meet my younger self now, I would pat her on the back and say there is nothing wrong with being different. Being different is a benefit because those people who are different will make a great impact on society in the near future.

So I say if you want to express yourself through your nail polish, in what ever manner you want to express it in, go ahead. [unless you attend an environment where nail polish is prohibited then, obviously, you can't really do that!] If you want to express yourself through makeup, then more power to you! If you want to express yourself through art, music, acting, science, math, anything, then awesome! Expressing one's individuality is key into making the world a better place for people whom are not clones of everyone. Speak, shout, paint, just do it. We all need to be heard. :]
